"Fat Girl"
By Leigh Carron

REVIEW

"Fat Girl" tells the journey of Dee and Mick.  Dee is successful attorney, working as a child advocate, who is just as accomplished in putting up walls, ignoring her past, and hiding her pain.  Dee is confident when she is wearing the armor of her business suits and battling foes in courtroom fortresses.  When her high school sweetheart, and love of her life, Mick, re-enters her life, Dee is stripped of those protective threads and must battle her own demons on unfamiliar turf.

Through lovely prose, Ms. Carron narrates a beautiful, and at times painful, journey that gives the reader glimpses into both Dee and Micah's present and past- what brought them together and what broke them apart.  Mick is swoon-worthy because of his physical attributes as well as his devotion and sincerity toward Dee.  As more of their story unfolds, the reader will not only fall in love with Mick, but also love Dee as beautiful soul, courageous woman, and formidable counterpart.

Ms. Carron tackles many issues; highlighting the struggle with body image, deep-seated trauma, and allowing oneself to trust in others, but balances the angst of self-discovery and second chances with eloquently vivid and steamy romance. "Fat Girl" reminds us that facades are not finite, forgiveness is forthright, and some feelings are both fortuitous and forever.
